What is Therapeutic Yoga?

Therapeutic Yoga is designed for active, athletic, people with fatigue, tightness, tension, Ther2_smallor stress that limits their ability to enjoy their sport and life to the fullest. It combines the art of gentle yoga postures, breathing, relaxation, and meditation with modern scientific understanding of kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology. It’ s a mindful approach to holistic healing that can help balance the nervous system and eliminate or reduce pain.

What you can expect?  You can expect initially, to move and breathe in a slow and mindful way to facilitate a sense of ease.  We’ll work together unraveling compensatory patterns of movement that can be the source of pain, and enhance pathways of more efficient, functional movement habits. You’ll be able to move better, breathe better, move better, and feel better.


 One on One Private Sessions:  Specialized yoga sequences customized to your specific health issues or for injury prevention. $85/60min session or Package of 5 sessions/ $395

Group Therapeutic Yoga for Shoulders and Hips:  6 Class Series/ $150 – (limited to 8 students)                                        Where might you be limited or even stuck, that is causing compensation and pain?  Many athletes unkowingly compensate where there’s a lack of stability or mobility in the joints, resulting in injury in the back, SI joints, hips and shoulders.  Through kinestic awareness, well improve how you move by revealing imbalances that cause you to compensate.  Beacuase our hips and shoulders are the largest joints closest to the spine, they are responsible for ease of movement throughout the e body.  When hips and shoulders move fluidly and purely as they should, muscles will work more functionally as they should.  We’ll also address what you think “core strength” is, and help you train healthier core recruitment  patterns.  *Available for purchase with this class is handbook with written and video instructions  to help you maintain a daily home yoga practice. 

About Your Instructor:

Lisa Hannah JonesLisa is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists  and a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance (ERYT) . Recognized for her skills in safe musculo-skeletal alignment, relaxation, and her extensive training in breathing and somatic awareness, Lisa’s teaching methods help release pain, improve posture, and promote optimal ease and performance in navigating the stresses of sports and life.

Her inspired style is informed by three of most respected Yoga Therapy educators in the field of Yoga Anatomy and Movement, Susi Hately of  Functional Synergy and Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Mathews of The Breathing Project.

Additonally,  Lisa is a Tennis Performance Trainer, certified by the International Tennis Performance Association, and has structured yoga programs for sport-specific training performance which can be improved through yoga and aid in injury prevention.

Lisa is a Faculty Member for the US Tennis Congress in New York and Yoga Trainer for the Ginepri Tennis Academy in East Cobb. She is known for her contributions to MindBodyGreen and Elephant Journal.
